Welcome to Rosil Saldana's Yoga Website

Prabha Lakshmi Yoga or PLY, is a method of combining the various ‘sheets’ of the self: mind, body and soul - as seen in the layers of plywood maneuvered in the hands of a craftsman. The craftsmen are the yogi and yogini – embodying true self, true nature, consciousness, and eternity. Their mind, body and soul are carved together through postures, breath, and meditation. One may observe the various layers in plywood, but they all make one piece. So is the self one, as we ply.
Definition
ply1 [plahy] n. the moment when you apply yourself steadily in your practice to combine the various layers of the self – mind, body and soul
ply 2 [plahy] v. to intertwine various layers or pieces together.
What's in the name?
As I completed my yoga teacher training I received two Sanskrit (ancient language) names Prabha and Lakshmi. The first name means light, rays, sunshine and effulgence. The second name is for the goddess of abundance and fortune. Light and abundance is energy that dwells in all.
What is yoga?
The practice of yoga is known in the west as a series of postures or more so as Hatha Yoga. Postures are only but the tip of the iceberg. According to Patanjali and his yoga sutras, yoga is a 8 tiered discipline: good onto the self, good onto others, postures, breath exercise, focusing of senses inward, concentration, meditation, and bliss.
Your relationship with the practice will change and evolve over time. Anyone can start a yoga practice, even if you feel you are the least flexible or are not very strong. Even deep breathing is yoga! Strength and flexibility will develop in time. Yoga encourages a noncompetitive spirit. One of the most difficult, but ultimately most liberating things about yoga is letting go of the ego and accepting we are an extension of each other. Yoga simply said is freedom, unity, and connection.
